Robert Hughes was born in Wales.

Robert Hughes was born about 1869. He was the son of Hugh Hughes and Mary Hughes.

In 1881, Robert was residing with his parents and brother, John, in Clynnog, Caernarvonshire. Robert's father was farming 25 acres. ^[1]

In 1889, Robert married Elizabeth Ann Jones. The marriage was registered in Carnarvon, Caernarvonshire. ^[2]

By 1901, Robert and his family were living in Merionethshire. Robert was working in a slate quarry. The couple had two sons and a daughter. Robert's uncle-in-law was also staying with them. ^[3]

In 1911, Robert and his wife were seen on the census in Beddgelert, Caernarfonshire. Robert working in a quarry. The couple had two sons in the household. ^[4]

It is unclear when Robert passed away.
