Unlike what was written in the William and Mary Quarterly, Elizabeth Hughes was actually the wife of John Woodson, Sanbourne Woodson's half-brother. She is not the wife, nor mother of any of the Sanbourne's children. Elizabeth's father gave land to John Woodson 16 May 1750 Goochland Co VA Deed Book 6 Pages 54 55, for the love and affection of his daughter Elizabeth wife of John Woodson.
