Biography

Susannah Hughes was born 3 July 1816 in North Carolina.[1][2]

As of the 1850 U.S. Census, Susannah was living with her husband, Jesse Kindley in Davidson County, North Carolina, United States, with several of their children and a possible sister (Margaret J. Hughes, age 20, so born about 1830). Among their children[3]:

  • James E., b. about 1840[3]
  • William Riley, b. 14 December 1841, d. 16 January 1921[3][4]
  • John Wilson, b. 23 August 1845, d. 21 May 1916[3][5]
  • Joshua M., b. about 1846[3]
  • Elizabeth, b. about 1850[3]
  • Jacob Shadrack, b. 26 October 1852, m. 14 December 1871 to Mary A. Copple, d. 31 August 1917[6][7]
  • Mary, b. about 1859[1]

A Melinda Floyd, age 15 in 1880 (so, born about 1865) was living with them at the time of the U.S. Census, listed as "servant".

Susanna passed away in 25 August 1882. She is buried at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Asheboro, Randolph, County, North Carolina, United States.[2]
