Elizabeth J Hughes was born in 1843 in Tennessee, the daughter of James Abner and Mary Hughes.
November 13, 1864 she married a young Union soldier, Solomon Childers. He would die within 3 years, leaving her to raise James and John T. Childers.
In 1870, the young widow is living in her father's household with her two children.
October 15, 1871, Elizabeth married Edmond/Edward G. Guthrie in Pope County Arkansas. Edmond/Edward Guthrie served in the Civil War in the same Company as Elizabeth's husband Solomon Childers. (Due to possible transcription errors in military and marriage documents, it's likely the name Edmond was misread as Edward.)
Elizabeth Guthrie died March 8, 1878 and was buried at Mossville Cemetery, Newton County Arkansas.
