Biography

Palmer's second wife was Nellie Hughey of Perry Co., Al. who he had tried to elope with when she was sixteen. Her father, George W. Hughey caught them at Marion, Al. train station with a shot gun in hand and took his daughter home. Palmer went on to New Orleans working as a trolly conductor, and met his first wife, Eva Garrett, after her death he found Nellie had not married, so he went to Perry Co., Al. and they married in 1920.

Palmer had one child with Nellie Hughey Perry: 1. Vera Perry Sept. 22, 1925-July 6, 1992

Nellie May Hughey was born Sept. 14, 1894; died Feb. 4, 1944 in Mobile, Al. She is buried in the Magnolia Cemetery, Mobile, Al. + Palmer George Perry was born on March 10, 1889 in Ocmulgee, Perry Co., Al.; died July 25, 1951 in Mobile Al. He is buried the Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile. Note: Palmer George Perry was the son of George Ellis Perry and Sophie Patterson of Perry Co., Al. They died in Biloxi, Ms. Palmer tried to run away with Nellie when she was 16 years old Her father, George W. Hughey caught them at the Marion, Al. train station with a gun in hand, and took his daughter home. Palmer then married Eva Angeline Garrett. She died May 14, 1919 in Mobile, Al. After the death of Eva, he wrote Nellie and found she had not married. They married sometime before 1925. Someone broke into Palmer’s home and murdered him, and also burned his home).
