During a telephone conversation in 2008 with my cousin Daphne, she told me that her father (Larry) said his mother was Irish. Her surname was O'Rourke and she had one or two illegitimate children. She paid to come from Ireland to Liverpool and then settled in London. Daphne recalled her grandmother (Fanny) taking her round the corner to visit a cousin, who was Irish. Fanny worked as a charwoman in offices in the City of London from 4 am to 6 am.
