Biography

William Burr Hull was born 2 December 1845 in Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.[1][2][3][4] He was the son of Eliphalet Burr Hull and Hannah E. Holmes.[1][2]

In the 1850 United States Census, William Burr Hull, aged 4, appears in the household of his parents. His father is shown to be a farmer. His grandfather, who is also named William Burr Hull, is present as well.[3]

The 1870 United States Census shows William, aged 23, to be living in Palmyra, Wayne County, Pennsylvania among many unrelated people in what was probably a hotel or boarding house.[5] The scanned image of this document identifies his occupation as "Freight Agent".[5]

He married Charlotte H. Farnham on 7 October 1874 in Fairfield County, Connecticut.[1][2]

When the 1880 United States Census is taken, William is still living in Palmyra, but now his wife, Charlotte H. Farnham, is living with him.[6]

By the 1905 New York State Census, William and his wife have moved to New York City and their son, Arthur Burr Hull, aged 24, is living with them.[7]

In the 1910 United States Census, William and his wife are still living in New York City, but their son, Arthur is not present. William is identified as a lumber merchant.[8]

Then he appears in the household of his nephew, Henry Martin Hull, who is living in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut during the 1930 United States Census.[9]

The 1940 United States Census shows William as a widower and a patient living in what appears to be a small nursing home located in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut.[10]

William Burr Hull died on 14 Feburary 1943 in Fairfield County, Connecticut.[2] He was buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.[4]
