Biography

Can anyone add sourced documentation to this profile?

Margaret E. Hull was born about 1837 in Bath County, Virginia (per census and tombstone) to Margaret Warwick and John Hull. The 1850 census stated that 13 year old Margart E Hull was born in Bath County, Virginia. The 1860 census stated that 21 year old Magdaline Hull was born in Highland County, Virginia. In both 1850 and 1860, she resided with her parents and siblings in Highland County, Virginia.[1][2]

Her father died in Nov 1861.

The county marriage record states that Christopher R. Wallace, born in Bath County, Virginia, son of Robert S and Anna Wallace, and Maggie E. Hull, age 24, born in Highland County, Virginia, daughter of John and Margaret W. Hull, were married 6 Oct 1869 in Highland County, Virginia.[3]

In 1870, Margaret Wallace and her husband resided with widowed mother Margaret in Highland County, Virginia.[4]

In 1880, 1900 and 1910, Maggie/Margrate/Margaret and her husband resided in Williamsville, Bath County, Virginia.[5][6][7]

Margaret Wallace died in 1915 in Bath County, Virginia and was buried in Williamsville Cemetery, Bath County, Virginia. The tombstone says: Mother Margaret E. Wallace, Died Apr 30 1915, Aged 78 Yrs.[8]

Notes and Clues

Highland County was created from Pendleton and Bath Counties in 1847. So the place of birth in both censuses could be accurate. So perhaps Margaret Hull was born in the part of Bath County, Virginia that became Highland County.

A Virginia death certificate viewable on ancestry stated that Margaret Elizabeth Wallace was born 19 Apr 1936, died 30 Apr 1915 in Williamsville, Bath County, Virginia, and was the daughter of John E Hull and Margaret Warwick.
