Biography

Alexander was born in 1858. He was the son of Joseph Hume and Margaret Robertson. He passed away in 1943

A. J. was born in 1858. He married E. Ann Hewison in 1885. ^[1] Alex passed away in 1943.

"Alex J. Hume (1858-1942) was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and came to Canada with his parents. In 1879 he came to Richmond Hill, where in 1890 he set up his own tailoring shop. When Mr. Teefy retired as clerk and treasurer of the municipality, A. J. Hume, as he was always known, took over the position and kept it until he retired in 1942. An excellent musician, he led the choir in the Methodist Church for many years, and also the Richmond Hill band. He was librarian for the village for a number of years." ^[2]
