Biography

From Chuck Todd's Barnett Research - Mary Barnett born about 1766, married John Hume born 1761, died about 1843 in Marion County, Indiana. John enlisted in the American Revolutionary War at Lebanon, Pennsylvania in 1777.

From Find A Grave website bio: Revolutionary War soldier. At the age of 16 in 1777 he volunteered for service as a private in the Pennsylvania militia. He served five hitches which included the battle of White Marsh, scouting and range duty, and helping to defend the frontiers against the Indians. His last tour of duty was in 1780. John married Mary Barnett sometime before 1790, and the couple had 10 children. After moving to Washington County in Indiana they found their way to Pike Township. John, however, remained in Washington until old age, when he moved in with his son Thomas and died at age 70. Buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.
