I was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in the 1960s, to long lines of miners (with a few mariners, joiners and farmers thrown in) and church organists in Northumberland and County Durham. I grew up in Newcastle then moved to London for University, then gradually west to settle in Bath, Somerset, England. Married to John, mother of three, had a stint as a secondary school teacher then managed to get back into my first career - now working as a postdoc learning bioinformatics and studying antimicrobial resistance, and spending too much time on WikiTree in the evenings ...

Thank you for contributing towards the goals of the England Project! Over the past year, a staggering amount has been done to improve English profiles on WikiTree and we couldn't have done it without you and our other project members.
The England Project leadership like to check in with all our project members at least once a year.
Are you happy to stay in your current project team/s? Or is there another team you would like to join or become more active in?
Please reply to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message. I look forward to hearing from you. Please also let us know if you have other feedback about the direction of the project.
Hi Marjorie!!Thank you for your consistent improvement of WikiTree by participation in the Sourcerers Project during 2023!
Marjorie (Humphrey) Gibbon reached the Golden Achievement milestone by sourcing at least one profile in every month of the 2023 Sourcerers Project Sourcerers' Challenge.
Thank you for your commitment to the England Project and its goals in 2023! Together we are making English WikiTree profiles the best they can be!
I'd like to share our end-of-year 2023 Newsletter. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading about what we have achieved in 2023!
On behalf of all the England Project Leaders, we wish you a peaceful, productive and enjoyable 2024!
The Connect-a-Thon was fun, we hope you enjoyed yourself and are recovering. Thank you for helping, it is appreciated.
Our teams did really well. Our big Mighty Oaks Team came first overall, and our Little Mighty Oak Branches Team was in the top 5 on the Normalised Score. The combined score of our two teams was 11,109. A total of was 95,575 new profiles added by all during the thon.
We are delighted to announce a new Profile Improvements Team namely the England Tangled Families Team which will be formed by merging the Arborists, Gedcoms and Unknown Teams,
As we know tangled families are created from old GEDCOM’s which cover many generations resulting in the need to merge profiles and having to disconnect others together with finding unknown spouses and family members.
The merging of the existing three teams into one exciting new team will hopefully reduce duplications and definitely will increase collaboration between you our experienced and dedicated members.
Team Leader for the England Tangled Families Team will be Fran Weidman who has agreed to manage the team bringing her excellent knowledge and experience from creating and managing the Unknowns Team together with Fran’s five year membership of the England Project.
Currently as a member of one or more of the named teams we are asking you to join our new amalgamated Tangled Families Team and letting us know by contacting Joan Williams or Malc Rowlands through Discord Messaging, England Project Google Group or Private WT Message if you want to join our new team.
Thank you Margaret for editing Mary Gladstone born 1728. She is my 5th great grandmother. My grandmother Ann Wilson was born in Spittal, Northumberland England. She went to Canada as a young women and met my Grandfather who is from Fort Edward, New York. She settled in New York after he passed away with 4 young children. She would tell me some things about growing up in Northumberland. She passed at 98 in 1987.
On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!
The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our formal annual check-in with you.
Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Would you like to join any other teams?
Also, we would really like to hear which team is currently your highest priority. If you are a member of more than one team, could you please rank them from highest priority to lowest? Thank you! If you don’t see yourself as being part of a team, please let us know.
We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.
On behalf of all the Leaders, thank you again for all you do and we look forward to you continuing to be a part of our collaborative and fun Project!
We all did a great job this weekend, thank you, a job well done. The grand total for the event was 76,995 profiles created. The Mighty Oaks contributed 6,258 of those.
If you open up your contribution list you can review your work and possibly do some tidying up, before you orphan the profiles ;)
Many thanks for correcting the suspected birth location for Cornelius. In my ignorance I didn't realise that Bristol was a "Town & County". You can't expect to much from "Colonials" like myself. :-)
I am truly thankful that you made this correction as it gave me the incentive to dig deeper into this area!
Cheers
Thank you for joining the Mighty Oaks for the Connect-a-Thon. The 65 members who joined our teams were awesome. Our two teams added 12,905 profiles over the weekend. The Branches Team came second and the Roots Team came forth in the overall scores. Both teams were also in the top ten in the normalised scores. I hope you enjoyed it and will be joining us in April when we do it all over again.

Hello! Precisely I am looking for the ancestors of my Perrens grandparents originally from England, I have some handwritten documents with addresses and names that I will upload to my WikiTree account here... maybe I will be able to meet relatives and descendants! a pleasure to greet you!
Well, the Connect A Thon was fun, we hope you enjoyed yourself and have fully recovered. Thank you for joining us. It is appreciated. The combined score of 13,284 - is 113 more than the last CAT so well done. The total overall figure was 85,839 profiles connected.
Thanks for heads up over merging Henry Hele. Obviously when I created his profile, there was no *flag* that one already existed... Perhaps there's a time lag thing, as his other "manager" had only created him in June, and I did my version (almost identical) in October. You'd think that'd be long enough... Odd!
Hi Julie, I was adding some English Hele family members and spotted the two profiles that appeared to be the same person when I was scanning the list of possible matches, pleased that it worked out OK. Weird that matches don't always seem to come up on the list, I guess if dates on the other profile aren't quite right they don't show up. Best wishes, Marjorie
Thank you for your contributions to the December 2021 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for again taking time from your own family history to help others.
