Biography

Richard John was born in 1881. He was the son of Richard Humphreys and Charlotte Harrison. . [1] He married Agnes Gardner McQueen in 1913 [2] He passed away in 1947 age 67 [3]

Death of R. J. (" Dick ”) Humphreys. The death occurred at Templeton, last Wednesday, of R. J. Humphreys, who had. been associated with horses for over 30 years. A most popular and successful trainer, he handled several good horses, the best of which was Harold Logan. Harold Logan joined the stable in 1928 and later became the idol of the racing public, including in his long of -successes two New Zealand Trotting Cups. Other good pacers trained by Humphreys were Blair Athol and Cantata. Humphreys held several positions before setting up as a public trainer at Templeton, where he was actively engaged in training horses up to the time of his death. [4]
