JoAnn Hunsaker Nielsen slipped peacefully from this life on Friday, March 16, 2012, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 82. She joins in the next world her husband, Lloyd Carlisle Nielsen, to whom she was married on August 15, 1952, in the Salt Lake Temple. She also joins her parents, DeVerne and J Golden Hunsaker, to whom she was born on October 29, 1929, in Salt Lake City. loved little children and graduated with a degree in elementary education from the University of Utah. She was also an accomplished violinist and instilled a love of music in all her children. We treasure our memories of family sing-alongs and of the holiday traditions that she perpetuated. She taught us to work hard, to care about other people, and to believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. is survived by: her children, Karen Kelsey (Paul), Rachel Weidman (Dave), David Nielsen (Jacque), and Robert Nielsen; sister Jeri Lynn Horman (Gerald); brother Jay Hunsaker (Debbie); and by 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Winder Fourth Ward, 950 East 3825 South, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. A viewing will also be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
