Biography

John was born in 1789. He passed away in 1863.

John came from Luzerne Co to the "Lee Settlement" in 1829, purchasing 100 acres of land to the North of Shady Nook. He was a blacksmith and did work for those working on the turnpike when it was being built.


In 1848 he moved to the Colley settlement. This is from the Streby History of Sullivan County, Colley Twp., Page 7.

Listed in 1850 census of Colley Twp., Sullivan Co., Pa., as age 60, with wife Anna E. age 55 and daughter Margaret, age 14.

Listed in 1860 census of "Cully" (Colley) Twp., Sullivan Co., Pa. with wife Betsy and daughter Margaret.
