Biography

John was born about 1653. He passed away about 1737. Some early acounts err in believing he was born in 1633 and died at 104 but they have proved incorrect. A 3 and 5 are easily confused.

Patrilineal Lineage

His father is noted as Captain Vere, the son of Henry and Lady Jane de Vere in Burke's landed gentry on the Hunts of Cummer More.

  • Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA test results on Family Tree DNA. Lloyd (Hunt) de Vere Hunt, FTDNA kit # B231134, and his 8th cousin, Vere Hunt, FTDNA kit # SI13993, match at a Genetic Distance of 7 on 111 markers, thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their most-recent common ancestor who is Vere Hunt, the 7x great grandfather of both Lloyd (Hunt) de Vere Hunt and Vere Hunt. More germane is that at Big Y, the private variants for Lloyd is 3 and David is 4. Both are on the central Haplogroup of J-FTA83121 - but a subclade is formed at John of Glangoole with two other descendants of J-FTA84824
