Charles was born in 1796. He was the son of James Hunt and Mary Seaton He passed away in 1871 in retirement in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France (French death certificate on My Heritage)
He married Maria Bellendon Pfeilitzer at St James Westminster on January 1, 1824 (copy obtained from Find My Past) and further information may be found [Marriage Deed 533918]. Description to follow.
During his career as Resident Magistrate, he served in several counties in keeping with the profession including Tandragee (1835), Cork (1844), Tipperary (1844), Down (1849), Munster (1849), Monaghan (1852), Belfast and Ballymena (1857). Also was in a period in Donegal. These are gleaned from judicial appointments found in newspapers in Find my Past.
He was involved in a number of interesting and high profile cases such the navy crash between the Fairy and the Corsair in 1857 and in 1863 in a case where Doctor Courtenay was thought to have poisoned a patient, Amelia Carey on behalf of a third party.
He retired the following year (August 5, 1864) and as the paper notes, he was a fair man to all classes of people and rewarded with an excellent pension and retired with Maria to France, where he died.
The [children][1] of he and his wife, Maria Bellendon Pfeilitzer who are yet living are found at a Hunt deed sworn in Grieve, Ballybay Monaghan May 21, 1856 likely filed due to this being an emergency appointment and the recent loss Sergent George Frederick Hunt (December 23,1830 to March 23,1856 in Crimea)
