WOMAN ENDS LIFE WITH PISTOL SHOT. NOTTINGHAM, Pa., Aug. 18--Miss Mary E. Passmore, aged 46, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy C. Passmore and a niece of the late E. Pusey Passmore, former governor of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank, ended her life at her home here yesterday. Miss Passmore who had been melancholy at intervals since she figured in an automobile accident in 1923 in which one person was killed, was known to have been in her bedroom as late as midnight last night. Yesterday afternoon it was noticed that a window of the family garage that had not been opened since the building was erected several years ago was open. An investigation revealed marks on the side of the building leading up to a water tank beside the garage that contained about 16 feet of water. The water was drawn off from the tank and Miss Passmore's body was found in an upright position leaning against one side. With the discovery Mrs. Passmore collapsed and has been in a serious condition from the shock.[14]
Mrs. Rebecca Passmore, widow of the late Leroy C. Passmore, suffered a stroke on Sunday evening, Nov 5, at her home in Nottingham, Pa., and passed away within a short time.
Mrs. Passmore, who was in her 87th year, was born near Rising Sun, a daughter of Marshall J. and Elmira H. Hunt. She was an active member of the Nottingham Presbyterian church, the Women's Missionary Society, the W.C.T.U. and was a director of the Oxford Needlework Guild.
Her husband, Leroy C. Passmore, a prominent business man of Southern Chester county, died 10 years ago.
She is survived by a daughter and a son, Miss Elmira, at home, and J. Walter, of Nottingham; also by four granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held from the home Wednesday afternoon, with interment in Rosebank cemetery.
