Birth & Upbringing: Robin was born in Que Que in 1951.
Family: He married Mary Lynn and togethe they had two children.
Education: He was schooled in Gatooma at Jameson High School. [1] .
Military Service: Robin, before he joined Police Reserve, had been a member of the Rhodesian Airforce Voluntary Reserve.
Vocation: Robin was a fitter and turner by trade and was in the full time employ of Charter Estates, a forestry organisation. He previously work on another Estate, Sheba Estates in the Penhalonga area. Robin joined the BSA Police Reserve in 1977 ; Reg.No. 25558; served until October 1977.
Demise: KIA - contact and engagement with enemy while serving as a Field Reservist in the Melsetter area (Operation Thrasher).[2]. He died alongside his Police anti Terrorist Unit (PATU) colleagues Peter Hanson and Harold Holstenburg. [3]. "Hanson (stick leader), Hunt and Holstenburg, all members of the Melsetter community and part of the same PATU stick of four, sighted a group of 6-7 CTs heading towards the border. Contact was initiated in which a CT was wounded in the leg, going down in bracken-covered open ground. Over a short period of time, this CT shot and killed Hanson, Holstenburg and Hunt as the PATU stick repeatedly tried to neutralise him. He was eventually captured when support arrived."[4] .
