Hazel was born in 1929. She was the daughter of David Hunt and Olive Rider. She passed away in 2001.

Obituary

Hazel M. (Hunt) Shearer, 72, of Spring Grove RD 5, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at her residence. Mrs. Shearer worked from 1947 to 1953 at Sticks Sewing Factory. She was a 1947 graduate of Codorus Township High School. She was a member of Zion (Shaffer's) United Lutheran Church, Seven Valleys, where she was a former president of Lutheran Church Women, a choir member and vacation Bible school teacher. Born in Lower Windsor Township Jan. 22, 1929, she was a daughter of the late David F. and Olive G. (Rider) Hunt. She leaves her husband of 50 years, Richard R. Shearer; two sons, Robert J. Shearer of Spring Grove and Lynn E. Shearer of Mount Wolf; two grandchildren; eight sisters, Mary Shearer, Mildred Becker, Marion Dubbs and Vonny Klahold, all of York, Pauline Amspacher of Glen Rock, Florence Heckert of Dover, Arlene Roseberry of Stewartstown and Phyllis Amspacher of Gatesville, Texas. A daughter, Kathleen R. Shearer, is deceased. Viewings are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion (Shaffer's) United Lutheran Church, Shaffer Road (west of Shaffer's Church Road), Seven Valleys. The service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church with her pastor, the Rev. J. Thomas Shelley, officiating. Burial is in Zion (Shaffer's) Church Cemetery, Seven Valleys.
