Biography

Joanna Hunt was born at Weymouth, Massahusettts on September 25, 1722, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Reed) Hunt. [1] [2]

Joanna Hunt married Abraham Shaw at Weymouth on January 26, 1741/2. [3] [2] Abraham was born at Weymouth on September 8, 1720, son of Joseph Shaw and his second wife Mary Blanchard. [1] [2]

Abraham died by July 1, 1746, when administration on the estate of Abraham Shaw late of Weymouth, weaver was granted to his widow Johanna Shaw. [2] [4]

Widow Joanna Shaw presented an account of the estate on June 16, 1747 showing items paid to Susannah Shaw, Alice Shaw and Abigail Shaw and for the widow's support in bringing up two small children L70. [4] [2]

On May 16, 1749, John Shaw of Weymouth, husbandman, was appointed guardian of his nephew Abraham Shaw, aged about five years [5], and his niece Susannah Shaw aged about seven, children of his brother Abraham, deceased. [6][2]

Joanna married second, William Joy as his second wife, intentions published at Weymouth on November 18, 1748. [3] William was born at Hingham on August 20, 1721, son of Simon and Hannah (Humphrey) Joy. His first wife was Joanna's sister, Elizabeth Hunt. [2]

William died at Weymouth at the age of 89 on March 10, 1811. [3] [2]

Widow Joanna died there on March 4, 1812, aged 90. [3] [2]
