Biography

Elijah was born in 1899 to parents William Hunt and Sarah Jane Mead.^[1]

He married Margaret A J Potts at Merriwa in 1925.^[2]Margaret passed on th 8th July 1951 at the age of 47.

He passed away on the 26th November 1986 at the age of 89 years, and is buried at Merriwa alongside his wife.^[3]

Mr. Hunt's Unpleasant Experience.

Mr. Elijah Hunt, of "Rothbury," Bow, last night met with a very painful accident. He was descending a well on his property by means of a rope ladder when the rope broke, and he fell, severely injuring both legs. There were several feet of water in the well. Mrs. Hunt heard his cries and, acting on his instructions, lowered a rope with which he made himself fast, and was afterwards raised to the top. Notwithstanding the severe pain that he was suffering, Mr. Hunt carried himself with the greatest fortitude and showed immense resource in arranging everything to the best advantage in his precarious position. He was admitted to the Merriwa Hospital last night, and will be brought into Brentwood Hospital on Thursday, for the purpose of having his legs X-rayed.[1]
