DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Hunt-4820 and Hunt-1947 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse, duplicate record

The Quaker record of his marriage gives his wife's name as Ann Owen. It also states, "Consent of Owen & Mary Owen." I am guessing she was still considered a minor (at about age 20) and that those are her parents giving permission. It is possible that both mother and daughter were named "Mary Ann" and that the mother used Mary and the daughter, Ann. But I have not seen a record showing his wife's name as Mary Ann.

Also note that Quaker records give her LNAB as Owen, not Owens.

Addendum to the comment below (Ran out of characters!):

I have seen a tree that gives your John's birth as "about 1760, Virginia." Unfortunately, that tree does not cite its source. But we do have a Quaker record of him marrying in Virginia, so it seems reasonable the birthplace could be correct.

Wow, this one got sidetracked and forgotten. Nearly five months later; John Hunt, son of William and Sarah Hunt, was born 30 Oct 1760, according to the records of the New Garden meeting, Guilford, NC (William Wade Hinshaw Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Vol I, NC, p. 503). He married Rachel Haworth, 9 Aug 1780, at the Deep River meeting, also NC (ibid., p. 820).

Here is your John:

"HUNT 1793, 5, 6. John & Ann Owen. Henry Sutphen, Surety. Consent of Owen & Mary Owen. Married by John Ayers, May 9, 1793" (Hinshaw, v. VI, Virginia, Bedford Co. Mtg., p. 938)

I have not found an exact birth date for your John Hunt, but he is not the john Hunt born in Guilford County, NC. That is a different man, who married a different woman, and died in Indiana, not Kentucky.

Hi Bob,

re: Avice's comment It does appear that two different John Hunts have gotten conflated in various genealogies. The exact birth date and NC birthplace seem to belong to the other John. What I've found so far says your John was b. abt. 1760, VA.

Still researching, will get back to you with details/sources.

Hunt-5939 and Hunt-1947 do not represent the same person because: My John Hunt was born in North Carolina. He married Rachel Haworth. He did not have a daughter Elizabeth. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~jrichmon/qkrcoll/hunt0030.htm

Hunt-5056 and Hunt-1947 appear to represent the same person because:

There are at least four records on Wikitree that appear to represent the same person, none of which offer credible sources. These could be merged, noting the conflict on death date/place in the bio section and marking the data section entries as uncertain. If we had better sources, it would help. Does anyone have any source(s) not shown on the profiles?

Hunt-3070 and Hunt-1947 appear to represent the same person, but the conflicts are substantial. Each profile cites just one dubious source, making it impossible to say what is correct without more research/better sources.

This appears to be the same person as Hunt 5056.
