Martha Hunt was born on 20 Dec 1858 in Bear Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin to parents Joseph Hunt and Eunice Dibble.[1]
She married James Babcock on 13 Apr 1879 in Sauk County, Wisconsin.[1] They had seven children:[2]
During Wisconsin's 1885 Census, Martha is noted as a head of household residing with 3 males. She is next to J.B. Hunt her father who has a large family. Since James Babcock is not listed as Head of Household as would be the normal notation if he were there, he is likely not present in the household. [3]
Martha passed away on 15 Feb 1887 at age 28 likely in Washington, Sauk County, Wisconsin.[2][4] She is buried at Tuckertown Cemetery, Hill Point, Sauk County under the name Martha B. Hunt. [5] Martha's middle initial is either "B" or "R", both are written in her double entry in cemetery records. It looks like a "B" from the Find A Grave Photo. She is buried next to her brother. [6]
