Biography

A record of Baptism for James Hunt has not been identified.

Census records indicate that James was from Lyneham, WIltshire, and that he was born about 1804. Based on his second marriage of 1840 (see below) in which his father was names as James, it is assumed that James was the son of James and Joanna Hunt of West Tockenham, Lyneham. James and Joanna had a child, William, baptised at Tockenham, Wiltshire in 1797 and a further five children baptised at Tockenham from 1806-1812.

James Hunt of Lyneham married Ann Burchell of Lyneham on 20 Jun 1831 at Lyneham, Wiltshire.[1]

Children:

  • Elijah Hunt (baptised on 09 May 1833 at Lyneham, Wiltshire, son of James, Labourer, and Anne; buried on 17 May 1833 at Lyneham, Wiltshire, age 2 weeks)[2]

His wife Ann died in 1835.

James Hunt of full age, widower, Labourer of Tockenham, married Elizabeth Newman of full age, spinster of Tockenham on 12 Dec 1840 at Tockenham, Wiltshire, in the presence of Jesse Hunt and Jane Smith. Father's name was James Hunt, Labourer.[3]

Children:

  • Charity Hunt (baptised on 16 Apr 1843 at Lyneham, Wiltshire, daughter of James, Labourer, and Elizabeth, of Tockenham; buried on 03 Nov 1860 at Lyneham, Wiltshire, age 17)[4]
  • Mary Hunt (baptised on 24 Apr 1846 at Lyneham, Wiltshire, daughter of James, Labourer, and Elizabeth, of West Tockenham)[5]

James Hunt was buried on 10 Aug 1866 at Tockenham, Wiltshire, with a given age of 68.[6]
