Biography

John was born on 19 Nov 1716 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay. He was the son of Samuel Hunt and Mary (Langdon) Hunt.

He married Ruth Fessenden on 2 Nov 1738 in Boston, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

In 1744, a newspaper notice reads: "Ran away from Mr. John Hunt of Watertown, a Negro Man nam'd Ben, about 30 years of Age (he says 27) yellow complexion, round face, speaks good English, a pleasant countenance, middle Stature, treads light, understands Farming; he had on when he went away, a Drabb cloth colour Jacket, near the color of his complexion, a pair of black sheep skin breeches, his wool was just cut off, he plays on a Violin. Whoever shall take up the above said runaway and him convey to his said Master, shall have five pounds (old tenor) reward, and all necessary charges. All Masters of Vessels are hereby cautioned against carrying off said servant, on Penalty of the Law."^[1]

He died on 19 Jan 1777 in Watertown, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
