Thomas Hunt was the son of Samuel Hunt and Mary Burroughs. He was born in the town of Maidenhead (now Lawrence, New Jersey). In the 1730s he acquired land in Hunterdon County, where he spent the rest of his life.
Thomas married Hannah Pierson of Long Island about 1732.

Rebecca's Biography states that she was the daughter of Thomas and Abigail (Wood) Hunt.
Additionally, the Biography of Abigail (Wood) Hunt states that Rebecca was the daughter of Abigail and Robert Hunt.
Thomas was about 90 years old when he died. His Will was probated March 12, 1790, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
