George Hunt was born on 16th October 1859 at Flagstaff Hill, South Australia, Australia. He was the son of Matthew Hunt and Elizabeth Lemon.^{[1] [2]}

George Hunt married Medora Chenoweth on 19th October 1890 at the residence of William Chenoweth, Sellicks Hill, South Australia, Australia.^{[3] [4]} This was one of three unions between these families. Catherine Chenoweth married William George Hunt and John James Chenoweth married Sophia Hunt.
