Biography

Desirée "DeDe" Hunt was born in Jamestown, Chautauqua, New York. She was a concert pianist.^[1] According to her FindAGrave memorial, she was the daughter of Fred Charles Hunt and Flora Belle Hunt.^[2]

She married Henry D. Ball on 31 Aug 1910 in Chautauqua County, New York. Desiree was only 17 years old when she married. She was born in Jamestown, New York, to Fred C. Hunt, born in Jamestown, and Flora B. Orcutt. Henry was a 24 year old electrician born in Columbus, Pennsylvania, the son of Jasper C. Ball and Nellie Durrell. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Charles S. Reed, wityh William L. LeVier and Charles H. Orcutt as witnesses.^[3][4] Henry Ball was a telephone lineman who died when daughter Lucille was only three.^[5]

In 1915, Desirée Ball, 22, and her daughter Lucille, 3, were living in Ellicott, Chautauqua, New York.^[6]

Desirée Ball, mother of comedienne Lucille Ball, died at her home in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California, on 20 July 1977.^[1] She is buried at the Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown, Chautauqua, New York.^[2]
