Vital Records of Marvin Hunt: Marvin was born in Charlemont, Franklin, Massachusetts in abt. 1816. Marvin was (likely) the second born child and son of Jacob Hunt and Philena Phips. He married Sarah Jane Smith, prb. in Livingston County, New York, bef. 1844. According to Census data, she was prb. b. in New York in abt. 1827. Her parents, siblings and the order of her birth are not currently known. They had six (known) children together. 1) Mercy Jane b. abt. 1846; 2) Cynthia Margaret b. abt. 1848; 3) (William) Fipps. b. abt. Jan 1855; 4) Melvin b. abt. 1859; 5) Franklin b. abt. 1861; and 6) Rosa B. b. abt. 1868. Marvin died prb. in Michigan (last known location) aft. 1880.

Census, Land, Court Records and other historical artifacts of Marvin Hunt: In the (25 Oct) 1850 Federal Census, Marvin was living in Springwater, Livingston, New York. He is listed there as head of household and is living in close proximity to his parents, Jacob and Philena and on either side of brothers Almon and David. Also residing in Marvin's household are his wife Sarah, recorded at age 23; and two of his children. Mercy (recorded as "Werthy") J. was recorded at age 6 (believed to have been 4 or 5)[1] and Cynthia at age 2. Marvin was 36 years of age at that time.[2] In the New York State Census of (15 Jun) 1855, Marvin was still living in Springwater with his wife, Sarah J., whose age was recorded as 27. His family consisted of Mercy J, recorded at age 9; Cynthia, recorded at age 6 and William recorded at age 5 mos.[3] In the (26 Jun) 1860 Federal Census, Marvin was still living in Springwater and was recorded there with his wife and four children. Also in his household was his brother, David and five of his children. Marvin's family was recorded as follows: His wife, Sarah at age 32; (Mercy) Jane, at age 13; Cynthia at age 11; (William) Phips at age 6 (actually 5); and Melvin at age 1. It appears that David had lost his wife, Mercy. David's family consisted of Phillip at age 13, twins Edward and Edwin at age 11; John age 8 and George at age 6. Marvin was at age 43.[4] In the New York State Census of (1 Jun) 1865, Marvin was still living in Livingston. Wife Sarah was 38; (Mercy) Jane was no longer in the home; Cynthia was at 16; William at 10; Melvin at 6; and Franklin at 4. Marvin's father, Jacob, at 82 years of age, was also in his home.[5] In the (21 Jul) 1870 Federal Census, Marvin was still living in Springwater. Residing in the house are his wife, Sarah at age 43 and two of his children. Mercy Jane and Cynthia are no longer present. (William) Fipps was 15; Melvin was 11; Franklin was 9; and a new addition, Rosa B. was recorded at 1. At that time, Marvin was 54 years of age.[6] In the (1 Jun) 1880 Federal Census, Marvin was living with his daughter (Cynthia) Margaret's family in Shelby, Macomb, Michigan. Marvin's youngest child, Rosa, who was then at age 11, was also present. Marvin was at age 64.[7]
