His wife Martha Elizabeth passed away on April 26, 1895, in Stevens county, Washington, at the age of 58. They had been married 38 years.
James Hunter married Louise J Carpenter on January 7, 1899, in Hunters, Stevens County, Washington, when he was 69 years old.
He died on October 18, 1905, in Stevens, Washington, at the age of 76 years, and was buried in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hunters, Stevens County, Washington.[1]
