Biography

Professor of logic, rhetoric and metaphysics at University of Saint Andrews, Scotland and minister, first, at Dunino and then, later, at Saint Leonard's.

Marriage: to Jane Wilson on 25 August 1797 at Dunino, Fife, Scotland, United Kingdom.^[1]

Death: James Hunter died on 25 February 1845. He was buried in St Andrew's Cathedral Graveyard, Saint Andrews, Fife.^[2]

The inscription on his gravestone begins with:

"Sacred to the memory of James Hunter LLD

For upward of 40 years professor of logic and rhetoric in the University of St Andrews

Who died at Carron Cottage on the 25th of Feb 1845 aged 73"
