David was born in 1837 in New York. He was the son of James Hunter and Sarah Akins. [1]

He came to Guilford with the family in 1844.

He married Sarah Gonsolus in 1872 [2]

They lived in Guilford. [3] [4] [5]

He was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1884, serving 4 terms. In 1892 he was elected to the State Senate. [6]

David passed away in 1922.
