David was born in 1837 in New York. He was the son of James Hunter and Sarah Akins. [1]

He came to Guilford with the family in 1844.

He fought in the Civil War with the Illinois 15th Infantry. [2][3]

He married Sarah Gonsolus in 1872 [4]

He was elected to the Illinois State Legislature in 1884, serving 4 terms. In 1892 he was elected to the state senate.

David passed away in 1922.
