Hannah M Hunter was born on 23 May 1796[1][2][3] in Burke, North Carolina, USA to Andrew Hunter and Lydia Burchfield.[4]

Marriage

About 1820 she began having children with Joseph Dobson Murphy, son of William Murphy Sr. and Catharine Hazy Dobson, who was the daughter of Joseph Dobson. They weren't married. Their children were legitimized in Georgia, perhaps after they married there.

Issue:

  1. James Harvey Murphy was born in 1821 in North Carolina. He died on 25 May 1864 in Georgia (Killed in battle during Civil War ). He married Sabra Denman on 12 Dec 1845 in Habersham, Habersham, Georgia.
  2. Harriett Caroline Murphy Holmes was born on 13 Sep 1823 in North Carolina, USA. She died on 23 Nov 1876 in Towns, Georgia, USA.
  3. Sophronia (Murphy) Smith was born in Nov 1824 in North Carolina.[2] She died in 1905 in Toccoa, Stephens, Georgia. She married Alfred Malcolm Smith on 02 Nov 1861 in Franklin, Georgia.
  4. Prisilla Murphy, married James Iverster.
  5. Oliver H P Murphy was born in 1827 in North Carolina, USA.[2] He died on 08 Jul 1879 in Stephens, Georgia.
  6. Joseph Manson Murphy, born November 1831 in McDowell, North Carolina and died 12 July 1907 in Stephens, Georgia.[5]
