OBITUARY.[5]
ALBERT E. HUNTER.
People of Bendick Murrell were deeply shocked when they heard of the sudden death yesterday at Canowindra of a member of a highly esteemed local family, Albert Edward Hunter, the Bendick postmaster.
The late Mr. Hunter combined contract work with his postal duties, the latter being carried out by members of the family. He had for the past eight months been engaged in a big contract for the Boree Shire, and was at work on the road almost at the time of his death.
Through weather conditions work had been delayed, and someone remarked about the sun shining again after the recent storms. He said, "I wish it would shine a bit more" and took a shovel and went behind a lorry to a heap of stones. Suddenly a slight groan was heard, and others hastening to him found he had collapsed. Conveyed to the Canowindra Hospital by his son, Mr. David Hunter, he passed away from heart failure.
Recently the late gentleman had been complaining, but the trouble was put down to indigestion, and his sudden end was totally unexpected.
Fifty years of age, the deceased was born at "Merrivale," Young. Except for a period in the tramway and police departments in Sydney, he had lived in the district all his life. He married Miss Lilian Hancock, and after coming back from Sydney the couple went to live at Bendick.
He leaves a widow and family to mourn him. Sons are William, David and Reginald, and daughters Mrs. W. Ewens and Hazel Hunter, all of Bendick Murrell. Brothers are Henry (Kingsvale), Donald (Young) and Frank (Sydney). Sisters are Mrs. Kircher (Enmore), Mrs. Borrott (Punchbowl), Mrs. Dent (Enmore), Mrs. T. Sutherland (Bendick).
The Rector (Rev. K. L. McKeown) will officiate at the funeral. The cortege leaves St. John's Church [Young] at 3 to-morrow afternoon.
