30. ↑ Source: #S77 Page: p.1 Data: Text: St. George CONT THE LATE MRS. DAVID HUNTER CONT Mrs. Hunter, relict of the late David Hunter, died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Jas. Tennant, Toronto, on last Sabbath, while on a visit there. The deceased lady was born in Ireland in 1815, and came to this country when but 14 years of age. She was married early in life and lived in the County of Peel. Nearly 40 years ago she came to this township with her husband and family. Mr. H. died in 1857, but Mrs. H., in conjunction with the older members of the family, managed the farm until its sale a few years ago to the eldest son, Mr. Alex. Hunter. The deceased was of a bright and cheery disposition, and was well respected by all who knew her. She had always taken a great interest in public affairs, and being a great reader and a good conversationalist, made an interesting companion and neighbor. Her remains were brought to this place on Tuesday, accompanied by her family, where they were met by a large number of old friends and followed to the Presbyterian cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Little, of Princeton, addressed the assembly, prayer was said by the Rev. Mr. McKay, of Woodstock, and the Rev. Mr. McTavish performed, in an impressive manner, the ceremonies of the church at the grave. Mrs. Hunter leaves behind her a large family of sons and daughters all settled in life. The eldest, Mr. Alex. Hunter, lives on the homestead, William is a farmer at Drumbo; David, Principal of the Woodstock Collegiate Institute; Nathaniel, in business in Michigan; John, a physician in Toronto; Josiah, in California; James, a physician in Detroit; Mrs. Jas. Tennant, of Toronto, Mrs. S. B. Charlton, of Cainsville, and Mrs. John Hoodless, of Hamilton.
