William Hunter was born about 1793 in Giles, Virginia, United States, son of Robert Hunter (~1755–1828) and Mildred Lewis (>1750–>1830).

William (29) married Barbara (Lugar) Hunter (26) on 5 May 1823 in Giles, USA. Their known children were:

William and Barbara relocated to Charleston from Pearisburg, Giles County, Virginia.

In the 1840 census Wm was in Kanawha, Virginia.[1]

In the 1850 census William (age 51 [sic]), Farmer, was in District 29, Kanawha, Virginia, United States.[2] Barbara was now fifty-four yfears old. In the home was also their daughter Clarissa (27) and her three children, and their children Priscilla, Samuel, Enoch, and Margaret.

William died (age 69) on 17 December 1862 in Two Mile of Elk River, Kanawha, West Virginia.[3] His birth place was listed as Giles County, Virginia. His occupation was that of a farmer. His spouse was listed as "Barbary Hunter."

William died September 2, 1870 in Charleston from a fever. [Source for this is Needed, because this date of death, conflicts with the date of death on his memorial page at findagrave.com]
