George Davis Hunter was born on September 7, 1887, in Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois, the son of James Hunter and Mary Ellen Davis Hunter.
He was a victim of the 1918 Flu Epidemic, dying on October 19, 1918, in Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois. He was buried with his wife in the Carlinville City Cemetery in Carlinville. A memorial page can be found on Find A Grave.
His obituary was published in the Daily Illinois State Journal in Sprinfield on October 20, 1918.

Influenza, Followed by Pneumonia, is Cause

Carlinville, Oct. 19 -- George Hunter, age 31 years, died at 10 o'clock this morning at the home of his parents in this city. His death was caused from pneumonia following influenza.
The death of Mr. Hunter is indeed sad. His wife died just five weeks ago today and they leave four little children under 6 years old.
Also surviving are his brothers, Clarence and Walter, and a sister, Mrs. Robert Anderson.
The funeral will be at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson of First North street, Rev. O. W. Shields officiating.
