Biography

In 1870, William and Lydia are living in Fawn Township with nine of their children: Mary Margaret (18), Robert (16), Terressa (14), Jesse (12), Ann (10), Newton (8), Lydia (6), Bell (4), and Joseph (2). William was a farmer, owning $3000 in Real Estate and $800 personal assets. Son Robert worked on the farm. Brother John Hunter and his wife Margaret (Keever) lived nearby.

Suffered with "dropsy" in his later years. From the Freeport Journal newspaper: "he was an upright and highly respected citizen, and a man of deep religious convictions. He was a member of the Tarentum M.E. Church and also of Tarentum Lodge #587 I.O.O.F.
