Asahel Huntington was born in mid-March of 1761, presumably at Franklin, Connecticut, as shown in the record of his death (Franklin adjoins Norwich, also shown as his birthplace in some reports; FamilySearch also indexes a record purporting to shown him born at Topsfield, Massachusetts,[1] but the remove to Topsfield did not come until years later). He studied for the ministry, was ordained at Topsfield 12 November 1789, and after taking up residence there, he married Alethea Lord in early June of 1791. The couple's children included Alethea, who died just days after her birth in 1792; a second Alethea, born in 1794; Elisha, born in 1796; Asahel, born in 1798; Hezekiah, born in 1800; and Mary Ann, born in 1802.
Asahel passed away at Topsfield in the spring of 1813, and is buried in the town's Pine Grove Cemetery.
