Jacob Huntley was born about 1780 in Cornwallis Township, Kings, Nova Scotia.[1] By 1790 his parents Frederick Huntley and Mary Elizabeth (Caldwell) Huntley had moved east of Machias in Washington County, Maine, and presumably they brought their children with them.[2] Jacob married Charity Cates in Machias on March 21, 1801. In 1841 he appeared in Washington County court records as the defendant in a debt case and as a resident of Machiasport.[3] By 1850 he appeared in the census as a 70 year old Nova Scotia-born farmer living in Machiasport with his second wife Susan E. Huntley and two children.[4] He passed away in Machiasport on
May 31, 1865.
