Biography

Minnie was born in 1882 in Leeds,[1] the daughter of plumber Arthur Hurd and his wife Lottie Simpson of 41 Roundhay Rd. She was baptised at St Matthew on 3rd December that year. [2] By 1891 she and her younger brother, Joseph, were living at Park Side, Beeston, Leeds in the 3 room home of her grandparents Joseph and Mary Simpson. It would have been quite a cramped existence as her 22 year old uncle, John Simpson, was also living there.[3]

Her father, Arthur, died in 1900 and at the 1901 Census Minnie was living with her mother and siblings at 59 Roundhay Rd.[4] She was still at home in 1911 though home had moved to 20 Harehills Rd. [5]

Minnie died in Leeds in 1953 aged 70. [6]
