Biography

He was born about 1785 in Connecticut, USA.

Surname spelling variations have included Hurd, Herd, Heard.

Elisha Hurd married Charlotte Rees or Race, daughter of Phillip Rees (1748-1820).

He died about 1865 probably in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, USA.

Research Notes

There is no proof that he is the son of Frederick Hurd as appears in many online pedigrees. The only apparent basis is that Elisha did have a son by that name. Otherwise, there is no documentation or reason why.

His name was mistakenly given as "Elijah" in the 1850 Census. All earlier census records give Elisha.
