Eugena (Hurd) Parker is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Rockford, Illinois.

Eugena was born in 1846, in New York, the daughter of Benjamin Hurd and Almira Sheldon .[1][2][3] [4]

She married Rufas Parker in 1863.

They came to Illinois and settled in Rockford about 1865. [5][6][7] [8]

Obituary

Mrs. Eugenia C. Parker passed away this morning at her home on Catlin street, where she has lived for the past 45 years. About the time of her husband's death in December, she was stricken with paralysis and has gradually failed since that time.

Mrs. Parker, of true Puritan blood, was a daughter of Benjamin and Almira Hurd and was born in Norway Herimiter County, New York, July 1, 1840. She received a liberal education, graduating from Utica Ladies' Seminary. In 1863 she was married to Mr. Parker, and they moved to Joliet, Ill, from Rockford, which was the home of her parents. Later she and her husband returned to Rockford and this city has since been her home. For the past forty-five years, she has resided in the home in which she passed away.

Her husband was at one time a manufacturer of piano stools but retired. the friends who knew Mrs. Parker best realized the deep unselfishness of her character. The fulfillment of her duties meant her happiness.

Mrs. Parker is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lillian C. Colville, and Mrs. VIoletta E. McDannell and Mrs. Henry Ellsworth of Chicago is the remaining sister. Mrs. Parker has been a life member of the Episcopal Church. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home. Rev. N.B. Clinch is to officiate. Interment will be in the West Side Cemetery. [10]
