Research Notes

He did not purchase or sell land in York Co. NB. I look through all the H's in the index books for probate records on FamilySearch. I didn't find any one with the name of Hird, Herd, Heard, Hurd, or Hard. Provincial Archives of New Brunswick has petitions for land by Jonathan Hurd, Samuel Hurd and Henry Herd.
Since Catherine's siblings went west to Ontario and Utah. He might have been caught up in the Queensbury Mormon Revolt, as was Catherine's brother. I checked FamilySearch for a James Herd (and other spellings) and a Catherine/Catharine as his spouse. There was none with that combination. I then removed the location and found two children with parents James Herd and Catherine Cameron born in Ontario. They both gave similar birth locations. I then looked for others that were born at the same location. There might be more children
