Biography

Billington was born about 1813. He was the son of William Hurst and Nancy Scruggs. He passed away before 1870.

Claim for pension filed August 28, 1865. A subsequent claim was filed on June 25, 1880 and a following investigation revealed that Billington S Hurst had died 6-10 years prior to this claim and that his son, William C Hurst was impersonating him in order to obtain his pension. William C Hurst was tried and convicted on December 2, 1884 in U.S. Court, Eastern District of Arkansas and sentenced on December 5, 1884 to imprisonment for 13 months at the House of Corrections, Detroit, Michigan, and to pay a fine of $1000 and costs of prosecution.

Hurst-3023 and Hurst-2900 appear to represent the same person because: These appear to be the same person. Hurst 2900 was an orphan, but I adopted him once I saw the need to merge. I will turn him over to the profile manager for Hurst-3023 once the merge has occurred. I have not verified any of the information on either profile.
