I am working on the Hurts for a friend and am not family or a professional researcher. The person has some concerns about the lineage of a Leona Hart Hurt (Branson, Brown, McClure)(November 25, 1892 - May 25, 1976) born, raised, lived and died in Idaho. I am trying to help the person out. I decided to start at the beginning and in my opinion I found some facts that do not seem to fit with the memorial write up. In 1850 in Pike Co., Ky., Absolom Hurt's wife is "Elizabeth b. 1795 in Ky." In 1860 in Pike Co., Ky., Absolom Hurt's wife is "Elizabeth b. 1814 - Ky." If "Elizabeth Bevins" married Absolom Hurt on June 29, 1849 is she older Elizabeth or the younger Elizabeth or did the census takers in 1850 make a terrible error in age? Also in 1860, Absolom has two additional children by the "Elizabeth - 1814 - Ky." - Louisana Hurt (1850) and Martha R. Hurt (1852) both b. in Pike Co., Ky. I assume you were aware that Abolom's wife or wifes had two different ages in 1850 and 1860 or that they were two different wifes and if so which one is Elizabeth Bevins. The marriage date of June 29, 1849 to me really confuses the issue. I did not find a Find A Grave Memorial for the Elizabeth Hurt. I found her in the 1870 but I cannot read the census. She is in Carter Co., Ky. in 1880 with daughter Louisa or Louisana Hurt Walters. I am a bit confused and wonder if you could explain to me why it appears that Absolom Hurt had two Elizabeths after Anna "Ann" Samples died? Also, a child "Sparrel b. -1847" appears on Anna "Ann" Samples's list of children but she supposedly died in 1845 and Absolom supposed did not marry again until June 29, 1849. There is a problem here and Sparrel does not appear in the 1850 census to help answer the question.
