His death record and gravesite monument spell his surname "Huson".[1][3][4] His children also spelled their surnames or maiden names as "Huson".
Some researches might question the identification of David Huson's father as David Henry Hughson based on inconsistent spelling of their last names [3] and lack of an attributable birth record. Such doubts are dispelled by DNA evidence.[7]. His military veteran records spell his surname "Hughson".[2][5][6]
An image of his contemporary gravesite monument shows his year of birth as 1845.[1] However, two different transcriptions of his death record report his age at death as 52 years, 8 months and 13 days.[3][4] This profile reports his birth year as shown on the two copies of his death record.

Middle Name: Some unverified sources, such as his profile on Find-a-Grave, show his middle name as Henry.[1] A contemporary record proving this middle name has not been found.
Child named Maro Duane: Numerous Ancestry.com user trees mention a son named Maro Duane. No such person was documented on the 1900 census. While no supporting documentation could be found, this information seems plausible because multiple birth records are missing from this family and the 1890 U. S. census records were destroyed by a fire at the Commerce Department in Washington, DC on 10 January 1921. His birth would have had to be between 1885 and nine months after the death of David H. Huson on 17 Oct 1895.

DNA shared matching triangulation can be used to infer a paternal relationship between David Henry Hughson and David Henry Huson. A review of Ancestry.com autosomal matching results show users Laurence Mohr, R.M. (109 cM across 6 segments match with Laurence, managed by user chmcintyre2009), and dwyer245 (21 cM across 2 segments match with Laurence) all match each other. Laurence and R. M. are 4th cousins descended from David Henry Huson through Burnice Huson and Helen Irene Huson (1884-1941). Laurence and dwyer245 are 3rd cousins 1x removed through David Henry Huson and Edward Albert Hughson. The closest common ancestor of all three persons is David Henry Hughson. Additional research is needed to confirm this relationship by DNA segment triangulation.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with David by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with David:
