Biography

Thomas HUTCHINS was born in 1845^[1] and was christened on 20 July 1845 in Alton, Hampshire, England^[2]. His parents were George HUTCHINS and Margaret KNIGHT.

1851, 6 year old Thomas HUTCHINS was living in Church Lane, Farnham, Surrey, England with his parents, George (age 42, Ag. Laborer) and Margaret (38) and siblings, Mary (15, Servant), John (11, Ag. Laborer), William (8) and Edward (3)^[3].

The ship Dominion set sail from London, England (via Plymouth) on 8 June 1852 with the HUTCHINS family among the assisted immigrant passengers and arrived in Portland, Colony of Victoria on 9 October 1852^[4][5]. The HUTCHINS family consisted of parents, George (age 43, Shepherd) and Margaret (39) and their children, Mary (16, Domestic Servant), John (12), William (9), Thomas (6), Edward (4) and infant George.

Elena EDWARDS and Thomas HUTCHINS were formally married in 1878 in Colony of Victoria^[6] however they were together for at least 10 years prior.
