Emma Georgianne Hutchinson was born in March 2, 1855, in Ravenswood, Jackson county, Virginia, the daughter of David O. Hutchinson and Maria/Mariah L. Reed. (Note: That part of Virginia broke off and became part of West Virginia in 1863, at the onset of the American Civil War.)
In 1876, Emma married Captain John Francis "J.F." Lallance, son of Peter P. Lallance and Mary A. (Bailey) Lallance. Emma and J.F. were the parents of at least one child: Peter Oliver Lallance, born June 18, 1881, in Syracuse.
John Francis died March 17, 1913, in Syracuse. In 1931, at the age of 67, Emma married Nathaniel C. Cook, son of Joseph B. Cook. who was twice married and the father of five children. Nathaniel died April 27, 1934 and Emma survived him.
Emma is found on the United States Census of 1940, living with her son, Captain Pete Lallance in Ward 5, Ashland, Magisterial District 5, Boyd, Kentucky. Her son, like her husband was a River Boat captain. With them is living her 16 year old grand-daughter, Francis Lallance, named for Emma's husband. [1]
Emma died in 1944, in Ashland, Boyd county, Kentucky and is buried in the Ashland cemetery. [2]
