Biography
George was born about 1882 in Hull, Yorkshire, England. In 1901 he lived with his mother, Elizabeth, and stepfather in Howden, Yorkshire, and worked as a labourer.[1]
George married Ellen Ramsey in Howden in 1906.[2][3] The family lived in Skidby, Yorkshire, by 1911, where George worked as a signalman on the Hull and Barnsley Railway.[4]
